What is Over Two?
A small group of needle artists and knitters with professional backgrounds in marketing and technology founded Over Two to promote the needle and fiber arts, including cross stitch, needlepoint, embroidery, knitting, and crochet. The company primarily conducts numerous needle and fiber arts contests that award prizes totaling nearly $250,000 annually and sponsors scholarships for the children and grandchildren of needle artists and knitters.
What is xStitch Open Call?
The xStitch Open Call contest gives cross stitchers at all skill levels a chance to show off their pieces and win some stash in return. To gain the widest possible participation, Open Call has no restrictions on themes, designers, materials, or techniques used in projects. We want to see it all! Like all Over Two contests, you'll have several chances at winning, from the $2,500 Grand Prize to the $1,000 Stitcher's Vote award to individual shop prizes, and everyone who submits an entry will enjoy a handful of special gifts.
Why do you use the term "estimated" when referring to the prizes?
The contest has several fixed prizes that will be awarded:
In addition, all stitchers representing the winner of the Most Popular Shop will receive $100 each, and one stitcher from every shop will randomly win $50. Since the total number of stitchers and shops participating in Open Call will vary, so will the final amount of prizes distributed. Based on our past experiences with contests, we're estimating $20,000 in total prizes will be awarded, but we're hoping the amount will be even higher!
